The 40th Ryder Cup.
USA Europe
Bubba Watson -- Thomas Bjorn
Rickie Fowler -- Victor Dubuisson
Matt Kuchar -- Jamie Donaldson
Zach Johnson -- Stephen Gallacher
im Furyk -- Sergio Garcia
Jimmy Walker -- Martin Kaymer
Hunter Mahan -- Graeme McDowell
Keegan Bradley -- Rory McIlroy
Jordan Spieth -- Ian Poulter
Phil Mickelson -- Justin Rose
Webb Simpson -- Jimmy Walker
Patrick Reed -- Lee Westwood

Team Europe looks stronger on paper. However on Sunday two years ago, Team USA looked unstoppable and look what happened.

Rickie, Zach, Jordan & Phil look the key players for the USA.

Rory and Sergio have been hot all year. Hopefully Westwood can leave his current rotten form behind and gather his usual Ryder Cup point tally.

Two nice captains in Tom Watson and the West Ham supporter, Paul McGinley.

Europe go in as favourites this time but I expect this to be close and come right down to the wire on Sunday.

Hopefully the weather is good in Scotland next week!

Early bets:

Top USA Rookie: Jimmy Walker 15/8. Likely to be paired with Fowler.

Top USA scorer: Fowler 6/1.

For some reason i think we re going to lose, too many of our so called top players way off their best form. So much so some didn't even make the team.

"Two Jimmy Walkers, there's only two Jimmy Walkers"

I fancy the Americans for this one, unfortunately. Some strong players in their IMO. That being said, If Rory, Poults and Rose are on form then anything could happen, ditto G-Mac actually.

Will check the betting out for this.

At least there'll be something decent to watch on the tv for a few days.

Too tight to call - depends who gets their nose in front early on.

The Sunday singles is always one of the best days in the sporting calendar. Some truly fantastic moments over the years. None more so than two years ago. It doesn't get much better than that.

Really? The biggest points gap in ages the way I see it. Europe way too strong. The US wildcards look desperate and are all out of form as is everyone in their team except Fowler and maybe Speith. Gallacher is playing his local course which he has chewed up the last few times he's played there and gives us some good local knowledge. Dubuisson is the riskiest European, you never know which Fenchman will turn up in any sport.

Medinah was set up for the yanks, they cleared untold trees and rough so their big hitters could launch it without any penalty if it went offline. Gleneagles will be a much more of a test and we're the better team by a long way

Re: The 40th Ryder Cup.
I had the fortune to be in medinah for the whole event and the yanks were gutted. They are built up on being the greatest nation in the world and cannot handle not being the best and the fact that they haven't won for years only heightened their need to win in Chicago. When we pulled it back they were collectively traumatised. If we beat them again I think they will need therapy

Greatest sporting event I have been at outside of the hammers

Watson is a legend, but he's had a fucking mare with his wild cards.

Friday booked off and I have a semi at the thought of the first tee off.

Re: The 40th Ryder Cup.
The Ryder Cup is now a collection of European countries playing the USA and in every part of the course the wretched EU flag is flown. They use the golf event to tart up their reputation. Never will I identify with the eu and certainly NOT refer to the EU team as "us". Perish the thought. But I like golf and watch it but that's all. The sooner we're out of that conspiracy the better!!!!
